Description
This is an original 1st Generation Colt Frontier Six Shooter, manufactured in 1901 and chambered in the classic .44-40 WCF cartridge. Known for its Old West pedigree, the Colt SAA “Frontier” variant is a storied revolver built for rugged utility and chambered to match the Winchester rifles of the day.
This example features a 4 ¾" barrel with the desirable "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" roll-marked on the left side. The revolver retains traces of its original blue on the trigger guard, blending into a mottled gray and brown patina consistent with over a century of natural aging. The frame displays Colt's two-line patent dates and the circled Rampant Colt emblem. Matching serial numbers are found on the frame, trigger guard, and butt (“211406”), with assembly number “457” on the loading gate.
The hard rubber grips are well-fitted and retain the Rampant Colt medallions with light smoothing and honest wear. Mechanically, the revolver functions fine, with solid lockup and reliable cycling—an ideal piece for collectors of American frontier arms or vintage Colt revolvers.
